Interviewed by Rob Vollmar of World Literature Today, in the Winter issue of Life and Legends magazine – about my debut novel The Cruelty. For the full interview, go here: http://lifeandlegends.com/the-cruelty-an-interview-of-candice-louisa-daquin-by-rob-vollmar/
Incredibly grateful to Rob, Life and Legends & Editor-in-Chief Kalpna Singh-Chitnis for making this happen.

What a brilliantly conceived interview! Well done!

Thank you so much Stephanie, that means a lot. It was pretty hard to talk about the personal things but relative and necessary – Rob is a good guy too so that helped.

That really was expertly done! I felt so much resonance between my own reading and every point of your conversation. And your response/riposte to the question about erotica was spot-on. The whole “imitative desire” idea flowed very naturally from that. I could talk to you for hours about this, especially as it applies in queer culture. In short, bravísima.

Let’s definitely have that convo with a cup of your magic tea. I’m down for it hard.

Thanks for sharing that interview, Candy! Early on in it, the interviewer mentioned, “The intensity of imagery and the layering of symbol on symbol. ” All I could think of is that Rob has grasped the exact thing about your writing which makes your style unique, and what draws us to you. Your poetry is exactly the same! As a matter of fact, when I was reading the book, it flowed like your poetry, but in novel form. Congratulations! ❤
